It’s Crystal Clear -
Manager’s Corner
In a few short weeks, I will celebrate 26 years with the Crane Gulf Federal Credit Union. I worked for Ed and Puzz Gallion from May to February when I took the reins at the ripe old age of 28. Credit unions had just been deregulated and I learned as I went. Prior to this, credit unions weren’t subject to the outside world too much because everything was regulated - dividends, loan rates, everything. My job has changed over the years and is now a job of a compliance officer more than being "hands on" with everything.
Beverly Wallace worked with me for 15 years, and when she left, I knew I had to hire more people so we could have true cross training. It took a few years to find the right people and then to train them, but I am proud to say we have a great group of young women here with me. Everyday I take another step backward from the day to day operations and these ladies move forward. Jessica Cadena is our customer service department and takes care of most of your business. Susan Rodriguez is over operations - from paying the bills to reporting to NCUA. She keeps the mechanics of the office going as well as takes care of the new accounts and CD program. Malissa Heredia is our collections and loan officer as well as manning our branch in McCamey every Tuesday.
The last few years the compliance spot light, of course with Katrina, has turned to disaster planning. One of the major components in the planning for emergencies is cross training. We have put our cross training to the test when I was ill the last few years. It was good to see the fruit of our labors - life went on and most of you didn’t even know I wasn’t here. You are in good hands as I continue to take those steps more and more into the background. You can be very proud of your credit union and the young women taking ownership of their respective jobs here.
